Agriculture Minister tips people on how to benefit on gov’t programs

BY ISAAC MUMBERE

The Minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry and fisheries Mr. Frank Tumwebaze has re-echoed the need for people to form groups if they are to benefit better from government programs.

Mr Tumwebaze made the remarks on Friday during the pass-out of 592 Local Defense Unit Personnel at Hima Military Training School in Kitswamba Sub county, Kasese district.

Hon Tumwebaze noted that government remains committed to supporting people in groups; a practice which he said has proven to be an engine for socio-economic transformation.

He particularly urged the newly enrolled LDUs to form groups so that they benefit from the several projects under the ministry of agriculture including the distribution of heifers.

The agriculture minister also applauded the leaders from the districts of Kasese and Kamwenge for remaining calm amidst the ADF attacks which have claimed several lives of innocent civilians.
