The Kasese District Disaster Management Committee has warned the residents to be vigilant of the negative effects of the anticipated heavy rains in the district, calling on them to vacate dangerous places.
Mr. Mustafa Kikusa regrets that the forecast from the Ministry of Water and Environment indicates that disasters would happen in different ways including flooding, mudslinging and blowing of house roofs.
According to him, the district has already started experiencing disaster in some parts which blew off the roofs at Kibuga primary school in Karusandara sub County.
Mr. Kikusa advised that the parents should ensure safety of their children when going and coming back from schools especially those who cross rivers.
Kikusa also said people should avoid seeking shelter from under the trees and weak walls and buildings.
Kasese District Chairperson, Eliphaz Muhindi called on the people to adhere to the guidance that they will always disseminate using all the available communication channel.
Muhindi also indicated the people with structures that are weak should vacate them and at least ask their neighbors to accommodate them.
Muhindi called for the support of the development partners to intervene and support them in setting up measures aimed at rescuing the people, especially those who might fall victims of the disasters. ENDS
