People asked to donate to the disadvantaged ones during lent

BY ISAAC MUMBERE

People in Kasese district have been urged to use the lent season to visit the orphans, widows and the needy.

The advice was sounded yesterday by Rev. Capt. Godfrey Mulekya, the Vicar at Muhokya Church of Uganda Parish while speaking to the administration of Nzirambi Orphans Talent Development Centre (NOTDEC) in Kabirizi Parish of Lake Katwe Sub-county with a team of Christians from St. John’s Hamkungu Church of Uganda.

Rev. Mulekya said during the lent season, the people should have love shared among the Christians and other people in the community.

The Man of God used the same podium to call upon the caregivers of the orphans in the orphanage centres and those in their homes to have simple hearts towards those children, describing them as innocent of many things that happen to them while they are still young.

Edson Baluku Kapipa, the Lay reader at St. John’s Hamkungu Church of Uganda, revealed that it has been a culture in his service to visit places of orphans donating to them and as a church they do the same as part of their pastoral activities.

They subsequently donated rice and shillings 100,000 to the orphans at NOTDEC.

Quoting the Biblical Book of Isaiah 58:01, Lay reader Kapipa observed the need for prayer and care for the needy. L/R Kapipa explains: ……

Ms. Zauria Kukuzanisa, an Evangelist in the same church, urged other Christians in South Rwenzori Diocese to always extend a loving and supporting heart to such children who are in need.

Ms. Editor Asaba, the Managing Director at NOTDEC, appreciated the efforts of St. John’s Hamkungu Church of Uganda towards supporting the needy children.
