The Central Division Council in Kasese Municipality has resolved to gazette boda-boda stages and register all boda-boda riders in an attempt to prevent criminality and put the town to proper order.
The development was reached today afternoon during a council sitting at the Division Council Hall.
Addressing the council members, the Outgoing Division Chairperson, Martin Safari, said there was need to work on the regulation that controls boda-boda riders so that they are identified in order to reduce on the rate of criminality and cases of indiscipline that are registered by the community members.
He also said the regulation would help to eliminate the number of young boys from getting involved in boda-boda business.
This, according to him would also curtail road accidents from taking place and reduce on the rate of disorder in the town.
Jockus Bijwanga, the Male Councilor representing Nyakabingo II Ward, attributed the high cases of accidents taking place in Kasese town to the alleged lack of professionalism.
According to him, some of the boda-boda come from nowhere and join the boda-boda business without having enough training on road safety, hence causing accidents.
