The death toll from Saturday’s attacks on military installations in Kasese has risen to 19, Messiah Radio has learnt.
Rwenzori East Deputy Regional Police Commander Senior Superintendent of Police Alex Muhumuza made the revelation yesterday during a leaders’ meeting held at Hima Town Council headquarters.
SSP Muhumuza explained that the number of the deceased assailants now stands at 19 while those who have been captured are now 40.
He also observed that most of them hail from Busongora County North constituency.
Kasese district chairperson Mr. Eliphaz Muhindi Bukombi who condemned the act asked the people of Kasese to embrace hard work and to desist from being lured into subversive activities while the area member of parliament Mr. Sowedi Kitanywa commended government for its swift action in containing the attacks.
The minister of state for National Guidance Mr Godfrey Baluku Kabbyanga, who also attended the meeting appealed to the community to remain calm and report any suspicious characters to the relevant authorities.
