Five students of Kampala International University admitted after serious accident

Five students of Kampala International University – Ishaka campus over the weekend sustained serious injuries after being involved in an accident during a three-day tour in the Queen Elizabeth National Park.

The development was confirmed today by the Rwenzori East Regional Police Spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumushime while addressing the press at Kasese Central Police Station.

According to SP Tumushime, the accident involved a motor vehicle registration number UBM 473N which overturned at Mweya, injuring five occupants who had come for a tour .

The victims were later identified as  Julius Manyardi, Angelina Akello, Marvin Oyesiga and Eric Acedri.

SP Tumushime, who attributed the accident to over speeding, urged the drivers to always observe traffic rules while using the road.

The victims are currently admitted at Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital in Kasese town where they are receiving treatment.

Tumushime also used the same platform to warn civilians against the practice of obtaining ammunition related objects.

His remarks follows a disclosure indicating that the police had recovered 135 rounds of ammunition in Kinyaminagha Parish, Kitabu Sub-county.

He noted that police had launched the hunt for the suspect connected to the recovered ammunition.
