BY JOACKIM KULE MUHESI

The Electoral Commission (EC) has today dully nominated Ms Jolly Masika Kateeba, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer for the position of Mayor for Kasese Municipality in the forthcoming 2026 General Elections.

Kateeba’s nomination was proposed by Angella Birungi, the Kasese District Chairperson for the Women’s League and seconded by Selvano Kiiro Mulhondi, the Kasese Municipality NRM Chairperson.

After presenting their details to Electoral Commission at exactly 12:30pm at district multi-purpose hall, the Kasese District Returning Officer, Godfrey Mbabazi declared Kateeba as a dully nominated candidate for the Mayoral seat.

Mr. Mbabazi announced to the supporters that Kateeba provided all the necessary requirements for nomination.

He, however, advised that she shouldn’t begin public campaigns before they submit in their programs for a possible harmonization with her competitors including Chance Kahindo for FDC and Saidi Kisuki for People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) to avoid collision.

Speaking to the press shortly after being nominated, Kateeba highlighted that she would ensure equitable service delivery to the people.

She pledged to lobby for socio-economic programs to the residents in order for them to improve their livelihoods, work on the drainage channels, garbage management, infrastructural development and market access for the agricultural goods.

Some of the supporters welcomed her nomination, stressing that this time round, they would like to test the leadership of a woman.
