Hima Anglican Church of Uganda Parish in Maliba Archdeaconry is in her final stages to be elevated to an Archdeaconry status.
Once elevated, it will become the 15th Archdeaconry in South Rwenzori Diocese. The Diocese also has 73 Parishes and 6,000 congregations.
Addressing the congregation that had thronged St. Peter’s Hima Church of Uganda, the Diocesan Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku announced that he had granted an Archdeaconry status to Hima Parish.
According to him, the official commissioning and installation of the Archdeacon would be done on January 25, 2026.
He subsequently applauded the Christians for their tireless efforts towards working on the infrastructural development and evangelism that are key for the growth of the church.
He was optimistic that the creation of Hima Archdeaconry would come along with the creation of Rugendabara Parish, appealing to the Christians to work hard and complete the construction of the Vicarage.
The Vicar at Hima Parish, the Rev. Can. Abia Were reported to the Bishop that they were working tooth and nail to have the Archdeacon’s house which is currently under construction completed by December.
