A minor aged 14 in Kalhamya village, Kahokya sub-county, Kasese district, is in police custody for allegedly poisoning his biological father, Bakwirison Kule.

According to Kule, the incident occurred on Tuesday evening when he returned from a nearby trading center and was served supper prepared by his wife, Grace Kyakimwa. Shortly after eating, Kule began feeling unwell and vomited several times.

Kyakimwa rushed her husband to a clinic at Kahokya trading center, where he received first aid.  The minor was arrested on Christmas Day and has spent a night in police cells. Apparently, the young boy is said to have admitted to administering rat poison in the father’s meal.

A police officer confirmed the detention but declined to comment further, referring the matter to the Rwenzori East Regional Police Spokesperson.

Vincent Muhayirwa, owner of the clinic that provided initial treatment, recommended that Kule undergoes further laboratory analysis at Kagando Hospital.

Area councilor, Mr. Batrumao Rwakyapa, advised parents to engage with their children and understand their challenges to prevent such incidents.
