14-year-old pupil allegedly strangled in Mpondwe-Lhubiriha

The territorial police in Bwera Division, Kasese District are investigating circumstances under which a 14-year-old boy was allegedly strangled to death.

The police have confirmed the development and identified the deceased as Michael Mbusa, a pupil at Nyakahya Primary School and resident of Kyambogho Cell in Mpondwe- Lhubiriha Town Council, Kasese District.

According to the Rwenzori East Police Spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, it is purported that the deceased was murdered on 10/08/2026 at unknown time at River Mpondwe in Kyambogho Cell by unknown assailants.

It’s also alleged that the deceased has been staying with his brother in- law, Deogracious Masereka at Kyambogho Cell and that on Monday at around 1800hrs, he disappeared from home and they searched for him all in vain until yesterday the 11/082026 when information was conveyed to the police about a floating body of unidentified person in River Mpondwe in Kyambogho Cell.

The scene was visited, examined and documented while the body was conveyed to Bwera General Hospital Mortuary for postmortem.

However, it was realized that the deceased had been strangled before being thrown in the water.

Maate says inquiries are still going on and efforts to get those involved are being made so that they are brought to book.
